About Irene

Irene discovered the world of art after retiring in 2002; she attended an etching course and became fascinated by the whole process.

Irene now has her own studio and printing press, which is located in the heart of rural Somerset, with spectacular views of Glastonbury Tor. This, together with her love of nature, inspires her to produce work mainly based on natural form.

She particularly enjoys intaglio etching using a variety of plates including copper, steel and aluminum. Irene has recently experimented with collographs, which she finds intriguing and uses natural materials to enhance her work, giving her more creative freedom.

During the last two years Irene has experimented with oil painting. Here she uses more vibrant colours to capture the wonder of nature, whereas her watercolours take a more subtle approach, and reflect the beauty of the Somerset Levels.
